The first few months of feeding a baby are simple. It's milk all of the way! Wether it is dried milk or directly from your breast, it is all the baby wishes to grow and flourish. But after a couple of months there comes a point where you need to transition to solid food. One of the first things you need to try is fruit. Don't begin with potato chips or any candy please.
It'd sound normal for you but there are countless thousands of parents around the world who feed their children candy. The worst part? They then wonder why they will not eat and after a while just tell others they do not like 'vegetables'. Would you if you had the decision between candy and broccoli at the age of 1? Me neither.
Fruit it is then. A very good one is a banana. It is full of fibres, slightly solid and it fills their stomach. As opposed to oranges which have plenty of juice and can be sour. It is not as rotten candy it will ruin their tiny teeth after a short while. One thing to look at out with is honey, you could be nearly convinced to feed your baby yoghurt with honey and some oatmeal but honey can be exceedingly dangerous for children below the age of two.
Why you ask? Because the bees that produce the honey can carry a small pathogen, perfectly harmless for adults but life-threatening for small children! Do not feed honey or any products containing honey to your kid.
After a while your child will stop with drinking milk. This differs significantly from child to kid. Some after 2 months, others are known to still be breastfed after 2 years. Ultimately it's easy to get rid of those pregnancy bra's (or zwangerschapslingerie where I come from) But this is anything except normal! Your kid will tell you when he doesn't like it any more. And when he does, I'm hoping you are not wearing your new shirt.
