An enthusiastic review of Samburu Serena Safari Lodge, Samburu Kenya area of Kenya

By Gareth Roberts

We spent 2 nights in Nanyuki, in order to write a favorable review of Samburu Serena Safari Lodge, Samburu Kenya region of Kenya.

I was highly impressed with this lodge; rooms were big, awfully clean and set along the river. The restaurant, bar & pool area were all beautiful. The park was excellent - masses of animal action and composed environment seeing as there weren't many folk there.

The staff there was very friendly and anxious to do all they could to make our stay noteworthy. We employed the pool between game drives as the weather was hot and sunny. The pool was flawless and a good place to chill after our early morning starts. Marabou storks were a permanent feature on the stream bank and every night protein was left to lure the crocodiles to the lodge wall. Tea and coffee was always available from early morning during the day and evening. The Lodge had a typical African decor which was precisely in keeping with our trip. Plenty of elephants crossing the stream, giraffe, gerenuks, a leopard and the Grevy zebra were some of the animals we saw in the park. The birds were sundry and bounteous and our wildlife book proved invaluable to recognise the different species.

If you're on safari in Kenya, I have the perfect place for you to visit. This place is a one of a kind, and you won't ever see another one like it. This place is the Lily Pond Arts Centre, located in Nanyuki, Kenya.

Ever thought about holidaying on the equator? Well that is exactly what you will do at the Lily Pond. The equator runs directly thru the Lily Pond Arts Centre. How cool is that? They have got a incredible new sculpture there, called the Wish World. It is installed at 0000000. That's pretty awesome! The Wish Globe is designed especially for holidaying families. They write down their wishes and hang them on the wish globe. I suspect this is a lovely idea!

Another really cool thing you can experience while you are at the Lily Pool is the coriolis effect. That's the effect that makes objects move in different directions in the Northern and Southern hemispheres of the equator. You can actually test this effect at the Lily Pond, since it is in both hemispheres!

While you are at the Lily Pond, you can eat a tasty healthy lunch. They grow their herbs for the food right on site, and ready your lunch with natural, local ingredients while you wait! After lunch, take a look at some of their beautiful African Art. You can meet the artists and watch them work!

Do not forget to stop by the one of a kind gift shop to get unique African gifts. These gifts are domestically made, and are a selection of the loveliest I have ever seen! They have everything from beaded sandals and African masks, to glass chimes and metal geckos! Genuinely beautiful gifts!

The Lily Pond Arts Centre is a gem in Kenya. It is a stunning place, with a fabulous story! A genuine unique experience, The Lily Pond Arts Centre is certainly a must see attraction when on safari in Kenya!
